caravan tranny fluid burnt
As part of regular maintenance, City Garage flushed the tranny fluid on my 99 Caravan SE in January of this year. They put in Valvoline Maxlife semi-synthetic fluid in it. Now 5 months and 4 thousand miles later the fluid smells badly burnt. The color is kinda clear still though. Transmission doesn't shift as smoothly now. Before the flush it shifted smoothly.
What would cause the fluid to be burnt like that? Is it the fluid? Valvoline maxlife is a dextron based fluid. What do I do now? |
RE: caravan tranny fluid burnt
Your best bet at this point is to remove the trans pan and replace the filter and put in mopar ATF +3. The fluid they used most likely is the incorrect fluid. The 604 tranny is pretty picky about the right fluid being in there. It may be too late now and an overhaul is in your future.
