The problem is on my 03 Grand Caravan Sport with the 3.8l engine.

For a while it has a problem where it would slip and shift hard from 1st to 2nd gear and would slip when passing at full throttle. On the way to the dealer i was comming to a stop at a red light and it made a loud clunk and got stuck in 2nd gear and would not shift out of 2nd and the engine light came on. The dealer said it is the internal trans speed sensor. does this sound correct?

Your transmission has two speed sensors and they both screw into the case. Not inside the transmission.

 

They got the van unstuck from 2nd gear and it shift through all gear fine most of the time.

But it still bucks (I call it slipping) from 1st to 2nd gear about 30% of the time. It feels bad when it happens but no problems untill it happens again.

They said they replaced the solinoid pack and reworked the valve body.

Does this sound correct? What could be causing the bucking (Slipping)
