on my 3.3L I attached a 15mm wrench to a strong 2ft piece of aluminum to give more leverage and make it a bit easier.

also, I recommend a helper to hold up the hood so the prop rod isn't in your way (or do like I did and hook a ratchet strap to the hood and then back to the luggage rack)
