Default Fluctuating RPM's

Hi.

I'm having a problem with a 2003 3.8 GC with 180,000 miles on it.

This issue started today after replacing the starter and blower motor resistor. The battery was disconnected for a couple of hours while I was working on it.

What happens is, it will drop RPM's quite a bit when you take your foot off the gas, and then the RPM's fluctuate before settling in during coasting. For example if you pull away, you are accelerating lets say up to 45mph, and then when you get to 45 you llet off the gas. During acceleration you may be at 2000+ RPM then when you let off the gas, and acceptable RPM to keep at 45 might be 1500. However the van will drop to 1000, and fluctuate from 1000-1700ish before settling in on 1500.

Is this normal while it go's through a learn cycle? I've driven it on two trips to town (about 15mins each way) and its still doing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm none too fimiliar with the 3.8s but it could be a bad throttle position sensor.
