Default 97 tranny shift question

my ram finally died and met its fate in the shredder at work. i just picked up a 97 caravan. it is great. start and run every time, BUT for 1 problem. when i shift from first to second it sort of jerks a little. not to hard but enough that i can feel it. the rpms rise and hold for a second before the shift to second. i read here it may be the tps. my ram never had any tranny issues in all the years i owned it. i guess im looking for all the cheaper things i can do before i take to a shop.

97 3.0
there are no service lights on, speedo is good, all other gears are fine.

thanks guys.

Try changing the fluid and filter first. That simple move has fixed many hard shift problems. Use only ATF+4 fluid.

If you have a 3.0L in the van, do you know if you have a 3 speed trans or the 4 speed?
