2006 Grand Caravan 3.8
I just saw the Engine Light come on checked the Code P0456-EVAP SYSTEM SMALL LEAK . My question is how critical is this, & should it be attended to ASAP, or can it be driven for a few more days?

Gas cap tight? Drive it for years. The EVAP system traps gas fumes in a charcoal canister while the engine is off. If you have an emissions test coming up you'll have to fix it.

Got the leak fixed within 5 minutes. Problem was a small amount of rust on the filler neck, took some sand paper cleaned it off, the rubber grommet on the cap was still pliable. Sprayed a little grease on the filler neck, problem solved.

That's all. This can actually be a headache to fix if it's one of the expensive boxes or multiple cracked hoses. Smoke machines are expensive and a lot of shops don't have them so they trial and error at your expense.. |
