[General]: Transmission Reverse Shudder
#22
2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 R/T
I want to let everyone know the reverse transmission shudder is normal. All Chrysler, Dodge and Jeeps transmission shudder in reverse. If you have the following transmission, A413/31TH, A604/41TE also 40TE, A606/42LE, 42RLE, 42/44RH and RE, 46RH and RE, 47RE and 48RE transmissions. The ones that shudder that much to none are 45/545 RFE, 65RFE, 68RFE and 69RFE trans. Now if you 948T 9speed transmission, that's a different ball game. We talk about those. I am a front line transmission dodge tech.

Dodge Journey downshift issues
I'm having an issue that's driving me crazy ....when I come to a full stop I feel like the transmission only downshift to second gear but when it does go to first gear it makes a hard kick.... Is my transmission going bad or does it needs service??? BTW sometimes when I apply reverse and hit the gas right away it takes 2/3 seconds to apply.
Any advice???

2012 Caravan, seems to compression brake all the time down to about 12mph. not sure why an eco-mode transmission would compression brake when off the gas? Seems it would just decouple or freewheel like my old 904. I told Carmax about it before I took delivery and they said they would flash the PCM to its latest update as the salesperson noticed it as I pointed it out while test driving it. It did not change anything. Still a noticeable compression braking when you lift your foot in traffic. Normal? and it has a big time shudder in reverse backing up my driveway. They spent hundreds of millions of dollars developing these automatic transmissions and they let these out the door with this reverse shudder, an admitted design function?

Another shudder victim here. Mine only shudders when shifting around the 2000 rpm area. Mostly when it goes into 5th or 6th. I've dumped in two different brand anti shudder juice into it and no affect. Wish it was easier to check the trans oil. I found a video on youtube that showed how to measure on oil dipstick and check with that and the fluid levels seems to be correct. Does it sound like the torque converter is dying? thanks in advance.
