Taped Off Drain Holes in Trunk lid?
Upon purchasing "new", the drain holes were covered with plastic tape; trunk area. How many have removed the tape ? Also, do any believe the tape was placed there for blocking water? I would only believe that if this were the case, a better plug (rubber) would have been used.
The plastic tape was 'not removed' during prep. Any and all opinions regarding the aforesaid is most welcome. Some pictures enclosed. Are these trunk lid holes considered ‘drain holes’, fabrication holes, or something else? It would only stand to reason if the holes were for draining, there may have been used a rubber plug. Or, are the holes for air circulation. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...c22a6cc53d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...360048ac41.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...d9a5d3488c.jpg |
they put it on the step bar mounting holes in pickups; maybe to keep stuff out its not there by accident. During pdi...we are not instructed to remove it. .. Can you pan out so I can see where in the trunk it is.

One hole is at left side and one hole is at right side (Underside of hood). I'll post some better pics later. What is PDI?

Pre-delivery inspection.
Real possibility those are holes used for locating pins, for the jig when the body is assembled. |

As received by F.C.A. this evening: "Nothing more than double talk" refusing to answer the question. Again, directing the question to the 'dealer'.
https://ci6.googleusercontent.com/pr...0Dj0000001qsDF Hello Tom; Thank you for providing photos. Looking at the photos it appears to be drainage / vent holes for any condensation or liquid that may seep in through the back window. Regarding whether or not to remove the plastic, we would advise asking the dealership, as they would be the ones who prepare the vehicle after delivery. They may have forgot to remove the plastic, but just to make sure they aren't supposed to be there we would advise asking them. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance by calling us at (800) 423-6343.Thank you again for your email Tom. Have a great day.Best wishes, JenniferDodge Customer Care |
