RE: *UPDATED PICS OF THE 2009 CHALLENGER*
C & D says that they expect it to weigh roughly the same as the Charger (4,100 lbs.). I highly doubt you will see any production version made with carbon fiber like this concept is.
With Dumlers current trend of overrating engine power output, I would be suprized if the 345 horsepower 5.7L Hemi in the Challenger could beat the 300 horsepower Mustang GT because of this. It's just like the Viper which gained 60 horsepower and is now slower and has by far the largest power loss/difference between the factory ratings and the actual output. |

I wasn't saying because the concept is carbon fiber that the production version would be. I WAS saying that info from the concept as far as weight would NOT be useful because of it's being a carbon fiber body. What I was getting at was there are other methods to reduce a vehicles weight. Plastics, aluminum and composites can eliminate alot of pounds plus it's losing 4 inches and 2 doors and their associated hardware. I would think that 3800 pounds can be pretty easy to acheive.

If I get a chance after work tonight I will post more pics of the Challenger that I have yet to see on here. http://geocities.com/rockominal2000/...challenger.jpg Regards; =R.o.C.k. http://geocities.com/rockominal2000/.../pinkblink.gif |
RE: *UPDATED PICS OF THE 2009 CHALLENGER*
If the Challenger has at least as much power as the GTO and looks better than the Mustang, it will be the top seller for sure.
Newsflash: The Challenger does look better than Mustang (or GTO). It did then and does now. Regards; =R.o.C.k.= http://geocities.com/rockominal2000/.../pinkblink.gif |
RE: *UPDATED PICS OF THE 2009 CHALLENGER*
I have the issue of Car & Driver, Road & Track, RPM and Automobile magazines which feature the new Challenger and they have some pictures that have not been posted on here yet.

this little beauty came up on an internet search

Great pics even if their provenance is questionable. Dodge/Chrysler are really hitting it out of the park. I wonder if Fiat has anything to do with although they seemed to be heading in a better direction design-wise even before the Italians took over.
