I've found a few easy mods he can do to add 60 or so HP to the WRX. Those things are cheap to mod.
I've got mixed emotions helping him with that car, I'd hate to see it get too crazy but on the other hand I can have a lot of fun doing it. I could look at this from the opinion he will find out about these mods given time, so why not help him out

My boy's STi is modded: a bigger turbo, injectors, and full exhuast, and twin mapped fuel delivery system, bigger sways, CAI,a front mount intercooler and special Potenza tires. There isn't much around that can take it -- when he goes to SCCA events, he passes Porche times like nothing. Usually only a good Miata or Lotus can get him. At the strip he runs a 1.6 60' and (I can't remember) but I think he's in the high twelves. When we line them up, he jumps ahead by a car length before I can get the big Charger'srear settled down, and he stays ahead to 160... not me, I break off at 100 (house rules)... They are amazing little cars.
If you mod upthe WRX your Charger might have a fight on it's hands. I just accept the fact a turbo 4 cylinder all wheel drive is in a class by itself. They aren't pretty, don't ride as nice, not as muchroom, but can they GO!
Have fun
