2010 Dodge Charger Power steering rack keeps blowing steering shaft seal
 

Replaced rack with a remanufactured rack and a reman pump,blew out steering shaft seal again 2days later.

2010 challenger rt/ auto trans, 71k miles
I have the same problem. Steering rack input shaft seal blew, replaced the entire rack and pinion all new, blew 6 days later. Looking at replacing pump and searching for a power steering pressure sensor if there is one

Did you ever fix it?

your on the right track. have a shop measure the pump pressure or take a shot in the dark and replace the pump. the pressure relief valve maybe stuck wide open.

Im going to replace the pump/ remove and clean hoses, look for pressure sensor, clean power steering fluid cooler and try again.. its only 58$ for a reman pump

don't start the engine until you manually bleed the powersteering system...otherwise you will suck air into the system and have a pump whine.

What is your advice for bleeding procedure?

after everything is installed. use jackstands to raise the front wheels off the ground. fill the reservoir. engine OFF..turn the wheels stop to stop 10x and recheck the fluid level. top up and repeat 3x. once the fluid level stops dropping...have someone start the engine...you be ready to add fluid if required. if the level drops enough to suck air on start up...you introduced air into the system. Once started and the fluid level is ok...stop to stop 10x with the engine running.
