Do I have to get the key reprogrammed when replacing the exterior driver's side door handle mechanism

 

nope. the passive entry door handle does have an electrical connector; unplug it and connect it to the new handle. transfer the door lock cylinder
don't fully remove the torx 20 screw...unscrew it 15 turns and leave it in place.

 

What if I have to replace the cylinder?
What happened was the car got broken into. The person damaged the cylinder and the cover to the driver's door handle.

 

buy a door lock cylinder. the dealer or lock smith can get the key code from the vin. have them code the new lock cylinder.
