1949 dodge coronet

Hi;'Looking for some suggestions on my 49 coronet gyromatic I am restoring. Have been researching this car for a year and some to verify what i have. Saved this old girl from the crusher on new years eve of last year.It had been registered by the MV as a 48 but my research on the serial # (314142210) shows it to be a 49. Now, the plot thickens because the engine serial # (D36 5291C) shows up as a 1950 engine. My first thought was as it is a late year model, perhaps they had a shortage of the D30 engine to finish production and moved up? Any suggestions?
site doesn't seem to want to let me post a picture for some reason.

Engine number D36 5291C - the C at the end means it is a Canadian engine - 25" block. And it is the 4,291st D36 engine built.

The D36 was a 118½" wheelbase DeLuxe (D36-1) or Special DeLuxe (D36-2) based on the Plymouth (P20) of the same wheelbase. The engine is a 218.1-cid unit with a 3-3/8" bore and 4-1/6" stroke.

Somewhere along the line the original engine died and someone replaced it with one that ran, even though not the same year, or size.
