1967 dodge d100
 

My wife and I recently bought my son his first vehicle, a 1967 dodge d100. He has always liked older trucks, and this one is kinda nice. Its a sweptline, with the little back window. The previous owner changed the front suspension clip to an 85 clip(his words, not mine. By looking at it, he either welded in the front suspension, or the changed the front half of the frame), and installed the 318/auto. He also installed a 71 grill, new-ish seats from...I dont even know what, and lowered the truck.

The good news is, it has the 318, and has started everytime we turned the key. We bought the truck to work on a little, and had no illusions of it being a show truck. We plan to fix a couple of things, make it a nice driver, then leave it alone. Aside from a few little issues, it appears to be quite dependable.

The bad news is, it has a mustang shifter, and ford ranger rims. And they lowered the rear by raising the suspension mounts, which puts them into the bed area. It appears to be safe, just ugly. And I have to get a good look at the front end. I dont know what has been done under the cab.

I will be looking for parts sources, especially any junk yards that have classic dodge trucks. Currently we need a back window, and some wheels. Eventually we will need a shifter, steering column, and a bench seat. Any direction or advice about parts sources will be appreciated. Thanks.

I know this is a year old, sorry. I had a computer snafu, and lost a bunch of links, and passwords. I stumbled back into this forum, by accident, when I went to register. Anyway...

This is my 07 charger rt/rt, and my sons 67 d100.

We have since gave his truck a major tune up, and had the radiator repaired. Next up is a rewire, front to back, and some better and safer lighting. Im scared someone will rearend him if we dont upgrade the tail lights. Everything else appears to be working ok. His wheels are the old wheels from my charger.
Also we are working on a plan to raise the rearend on his truck. The guy we bought it from built brackets to lower the rearend, but they intrude into the bed area. We are gonna remove them, and raise the rear. I think itll look better if the truck is raked, making the drip rail level with the ground. It looks like the nose is up, which we both hate.

My car has had new wheels (20x10 rear, and 20x8 fronts), coil overs from streetedge, and drilled and slotted rotors from R1, all installed last year. Next up is a custom exhaust, and hopefully a forged engine, upgraded transmission/rearend/driveshaft, and a supercharger. All in due time.

So, last year during Thanksgiving weekend, my son, who I bought this truck for, got sick. To make a long story short, after 4 months in ICU at Vanderbilt Childrens hospital, he passed away on the 28th of March, 2018. I normally avoid posting personal issues online, and Im not posting for sympathy. I just wanted to express how important this truck is to me now. I had hoped to build it with him. He asked me to finish it for him, and I plan to do so.

This past weekend, I bought a parts truck. Its a 67, d150(?), with a 3/4 chassis, and a long bed. I had been searching for parts, and found this truck. It has lots of good parts. The list so far goes like this; front fenders, hood, front bumper, A/C compressor and evaporator, dash, steering column, steering wheel, Tailgate (bonus..very hard to find), a great bench seat, and several more parts Im sure I can swap over. Im planning on starting to strip the parts truck in a few weeks. I have to rewire Isaacs truck first, and I just got the new harness from Ron Francis.

This is the 67 grill and bumper that are supposed to be on the truck. I plan on moving the entire front end over, fenders, hood and all

I am sorry about your son. I have not suffered personal pain like that but I know it must be tough.

Your old trucks bring back memories. My uncle bought a new 67 D100 with that same grille. His was a short Utiline (step side) bed, slant 6, 3-speed. Nice little truck. He kept it about 3 years and traded it for a new Ford F100 Custom long bed with the Explorer appearance package. Also in 1970 my dad bought a new D100, long Sweptline, 318, Torqueflite. It was a base model with a nice group of options. I was allowed to drive that truck a lot. And it was fast. Rode like a farm wagon with the straight axle and leaf springs upfront, but I was crazy about it.

Thank you. I am hoping to get the truck on the road by the end of the summer. I am in the process of wiring it now. I have to order some gauges, and a new ignition soon and then I can finish the wiring. Ill post pictures when I can.

This is the alternator in Isaacs truck. Is this internally or externally regulated?

Here is the back. It has the one large post, then two smaller ones. Anyone know anything about this alternator?

Got the old dash out. It had some issues, mainly a giant hole where someone used what appeared to be a chisel or an ax to install a radio.

Test fitting the 67 grill. I will have to swap the hood, and maybe the radiator support. Ill have to look. Im prepared to swap the whole front end. I like it.

The other two wires on the alt should be for the field windings, so yes, externally regulated. Should be a module on the firewall/fender somewhere.

All mopar alternators are externally regulated. That's the "newer" version that was used on 72's on up. More info that you plan on reading here.

Got the dash out. It has some extrs holes, but they are small, nothing to worry about. The radio says Plymouth on it. The dash box had been soaked in oil, so it fell apart coming out. The pad is there, but drawn up. Ill have it recovered.


The door panels look good. I can clean them up. I wanted to use them, but looking at Isaacs truck, his inner door handles are a paddle type, and they swing out. The parts truck has handles and they turn around the center, like the window cranks. Ill dig into it more. The inner door panels on Isaacs truck are plastic, and they have been painted. They dont look too good. Id much rather use the panels from the parts truck.
