Armstrong steering with big wheels is a killer!
Is there any later model power steering boxes that can be adapted to the 56 Dodge? Original set up is near impossible to find and probably can't find parts to rebuild it anyway. Just thinking someone may have done a swap like this.

 

What does the front suspension look like? Might be easier to adapt some variety of rack and pinion steering to it.

 

I believe the '56 is the last year for the straight beam type front end. In '57 Mopar went with the torsion bar set up. I had a generator/power steering pump for a '54 but I haven't seen it in years. I may have swapped it to a guy for something else. Putting a Mustang II (Pinto) front end might work but will be labor intensive and I don't know how well it will handle the heavier car.

 

I'm looking at electric power steering, it tucks up under the dash and I don't have to worry about mounting a pump or finding pulleys. Thank you
