Key Fob stuck in Ignition

I'm hoping someone might be able to shed a little light on a problem I'm having with my 14' Dart. Today, as I was shifting from Drive to Reverse in order to park, the car stalled. Was kind of stumped for a second but figured I'd try turning it off and on again and seeing if that fixed it. Well the Key Fob was stuck in the ignition. Eventually managed to get a friend to give me a hand pushing it into the parking space but for the life of me I can't get the fob to disengage from the ignition cylinder. The gear shift is also still indicating Drive, even though we were eventually, through a little trial and error with the key, able to shift the thing into neutral to move it. I'm honestly stumped. The first thing I tried was looking for a manual shift lock override, which is either so cunningly hidden as to be invisible or someone at Dodge forgot to design on this particular model. Also tried a short battery disconnect but the fob is holding on for dear life.

I was hoping someone might know where the manual key release is, as I've never in my life heard of any car that didn't have an override for this or similar situations. From there, I'll work on diagnosing what's going on with the shifter and why it refuses to indicate park. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

UPDATE: Had a friend with an OBD tool take a peek and it's showing a U140. It looks like it might just be a communication error between the car's computer and the Body Control Module. We're going to try resetting the system with a jumpstart. Will report back if we're successful.

Did the jumpstart work for you?
Im having a similar issue with our Dart, the shifter cable broke and we replaced it and now the key will not come out of the ignition. Firestone is telling us the already adjusted the new cable and they cant seem to figure out why the key wont release
