Hello all where to begin.... Well i was forced to purchase a 1985 daytona 2.2 turbo Z for my wife (either i buy it or i dont get any LOL) the car is is fairly good shape and well it runs extremely well for its age and price 200$, anyways she would like for me to do some upgrading and stuff and turn it into her hot rod, well i seen the V8 conversion kit and well that would definately be a very near future project for now i would rather start with basic upgrades and mods to this engine. Now i am no mechanical genius nor will i ever become one so this is why i am asking you guys here to help me out please.
1. What should i start with you get better/more power right away
2. I read many threads on here in regards to no more body kits for this car, but do any of you know where and who might be doing fiberglass aftermarket molding for it?
3. this car has leather interior but the seats could stand for recovering/reupolhstering and recoomendations as to wherfe and how might do this or the best replacement seats availible (keeping in mind these seats are full power)
4. She would also like for me to get her the lambo door kits for this car (her idea not mine LOL) so has anyone done this to their daytona.
5. Where can one find an upgraded or racing computer for this engine/car
6. how much possible horsepower can this car achieve with new mods
I would like to thank you all in advance to for help and imput and allthough i do order alot of stuff from the usa canadian suppliers would be greatly appreciated if possible

You can get a lot of power from a well done turbo setup, you don't need a V8.

possible upgrades:
1)"cold air" intake
2)K&N type filter
3)3" exhaust (most exhaust shops can make a custom one for you)
4)Upgrade turbo (VNT or ballbearing/Newer better)
5)MSD or other aftermarket ignition system
6)Larger Throttle Body
7)Neon Cylinder Head ( http://home.comcast.net/~ozspeed/CylinderHead.htm )
8)Intercooler (this adds a good amount of power)
9)Water injection
10)Nitrous
11)Aftermarket ECU (Haltech, MSD, MegaSquirt, AEM, FAST

Bodykits just make the car heavier and slower.

Boy this sounds familiar. The wife MADE me buy the car. Now she wants ME to spend money to make HER car better. Tell her like I told mine. It's YOUR car. YOU find the stuff and buy it, THEN I'll put it on. She doesn't want the car anymore... ;) I've waited 17 years to work on mine, and now that she got a new "toy" she wants me to put mine on hold again and spend my saved project money to work on hers... Ain't gonna happen!
