1998 Neon R/T Coupe in Albuquerque, NM. - Under 45k miles!
I have rescued an RT project car from California, and am not in a position to properly finish the vehicle. A friend had to quickly move to Texas, and was not able to deal with finishing or selling this car. I picked it up around Thanksgiving and brought it back to Albuquerque, NM, hoping to finish the project, but things have not worked out so well. My loss is your gain.
At approximately 36,000 miles (less than 10,000 miles ago), this vehicle had the original motor replaced with a stock, iron block with forged rods and forged pistons. The head was upgraded with stainless steel valves and was ported and polished at the time. An oversized, after market Moroso oil pan has been added as well as a MOPAR header, and a Quaife limited slip differential in the transmission. The exhaust has also been upgraded with a Borla exhaust system. Additional bolt-on's include a Howell performance race ecu, and Unorthodox Racing under drive pulley and an Ice-Man cold air intake. This car has been lowered with a set of 1.5" H&R lowering springs. Not installed on the vehicle are the Garrett turbo and the turbo manifold. This vehicle has the potential to haul some serious ***, and I have decided to offer it to any enthusiasts who may be interested instead of daily driving it in its current condition.
I also want to illustrate the issuses that I am aware of. I drove this car over 2000 miles home, in November, and have been commuting with it occasionally over the last few months, so I have a good feel for the vehicle. In the move from sea level and warm, to high desert and cold, the vehicle now leaks coolant. I am not sure what the cause of this is, and will not be taking the time to trouble shoot this known issue. Before driving the car out here, I replaced an O2 sensor due to a service engine soon light. The mechanic advised that I replaced both, but I did not. Shortly after passing NM state emissions, the 'service engine soon' light has come back on. I assume it is the other O2 sensor, but have not had the code pulled, to find out. The sunroof does not lift up on the driver's side, and therefore does not open. With that being said, the sunroof does not leak any moisture at all. The power locks do not work, and the right front speaker is the only speaker that functions properly. The vehicle was wired with an after market deck and sub woofers, and I presume this to be the effect of the original owner returning it to stock. Lastly, the steering wheel is not lined up properly with the alignment. The wheel points a bit to the left, although the vehicle drives straight. There is also a bit of body damage to the passenger rear quarter panel, which has been illustrated in the pictures.
