Neon cranks & has fuel pres but won't start
OK, so I took my 2000 Neon to the local dealer to have the keyless entry programmed. They did it OK but I'm driving home, less then a half mile from the dealer and the car dies. It will crank fine but it won't start. Had it towed home and so far I've checked the fuel pressure which is OK and I changed the coil pack for a known good one off my other 2000 Neon. It didn't work and as far as I can see there appears to be no spark. I checked engine codes and only got P 1684. From what I've read this code can't be the culprit or am I reading the posts wrong. Is there anything else to check before I conclude the PCM might have gone south? This car has some kind of security system that's part of the keyless entry. I don't really understand it fully but is it possible the dealer did something to kill the ignition? I called them and they assured me it wasn't anything they did but I've been lied to by dealers since I got my first car.
I repeat that the car seems to crank normally, not slowly or laboredand there is plenty of fuel pressure. I measured it at approx 40PSI & I can hear the fuel pump. I tried a known good coil pack to no avail. Is there anything else to checkbefore I get into the PCM?
