Can the location of the back-up camera be moved to a different location ...

I understand it's in the tailgate handle and the cap (ARE MX series) I'm thinking of buying requires removing the tailgate. Can I use a different camera with factory wires/setup ?

Probably but it will look like crap. The harness runs through the inside of the tailgate.
