Default 4th Gen MPG when towing thread ...

Lets post up what fuel mileage we are getting with our 4th Gen trucks when towing a trailer. Post a picture of what you are towing if you can. I'll start.

Truck:
2009 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4
5.7 Hemi
3.92 gears
35" tires

Trailer:
18' H&H Tiltbed Auto Transport Trailer, with 2500 lbs on board. Total weight 4000 lbs.

Name: DSC01274.jpg
Views: 370
Size: 152.3 KB

Best tank of fuel: 12.7 mpg

Average fuel economy over 400 miles: 10.5 mpg. This included driving in 4-low in the sand dunes to find a parking place to unload the ATVs.

5.7, 3.55 rear 17" steel rims on stock wranglers. magnaflow muffler.
boat pulls between 2000-2500 lbs. Never scaled it. Mostly highway to the lake, cruise set at 70 most of the way. Topped off with 89 just to post on this thread. Got 13.6 manually calculated, better than my modded 4.6 f150 with the same boat. Plus, I got there much quicker, much more comfortably, and looking damn good if I do say so myself.

09 QC, 5.7l, 3.55 rear, 17" rims, no mods yet at all.
Trailer is a Nomad 181 LTD, 18', 3750 dry, about 4300 loaded up.

We went from Olympia, Wa down to Seaside, Oregon this weekend. About 140 miles, about 40% freeway at 60mph, the rest was up, down, around, hills on 2 lane highway , anywhere from speed limited at 25, up to about 50.

Filled up with 89 before leaving. Got 9.5 mpg on the computer on the way down. Filled up again before heading home and got 9.8 mpg on the return. The return trip was in the rain with a pretty good wind coming from all different directions.

Camera phone pics.

I've only towed once/twice to get the boat from storage to the dealer and back for service. It weighs 4,750 with trailer. It's only about 10 miles. On the way there I got 9.6 mpg with 90% highway/10% city and rolling hills. On the way back I took a different route to run an errand 70% highway/30% city but flat and got 9.7 mpg.
