Default Opinions on the factory tow hooks

So I was staring at my TRX4 tonight as I often do. I'm wondering though if the tow hooks in the front are practical at all. There doesn't seem to be a lot of wiggle room in there. Opinions?

But if you look at how they fit into the bumper on the TRX4, they're not very accessible.

I've used them a few times and they work out nicely, I've had chains and ropes hooked, wrapped, tied, and anchored with no problems. I thought the sane thing at first but i really like how they are designed.

They work pretty good with straps, dont go with chains anymore after a few of them snapped. just about a week ago actually a guy double parked my buddy into a corner so we grabbed the straps and hooked em to the ford and skidded er across the pavement.

x2 on straps only. Mine worked fine even with a 30,000 lb ProComp tow strap.

Has anybody crawled under there and looked at them? I did, they are more complex then I thought.

Perfect!! I am sure that the owner of the ford was miffed to come out and find that his vehicle had been moved. But, he shouldn't have been so inconsiderate. Sheesh! Some people!

We ordered the tow hooks on our new 09 truck in the hopes of never needing to use them. But they do come in handy! My husband was unloading a round bale in the paddock and got the truck stuck in the mud. It looked drier than it was. When I got home from work, he hooked up my old chevy to his and we 'pulled' him out. It was too funny. Half ton small v8 'pulling' out a 3/4 CTD. In all reality, the chevy just helped get him going.
