Default Next Generation Engine Controller?????????

Does anyone know what the Next Generation Engine Controller does? Has anyone ever heard of any problems with this. The reason why I am asking is because I don't think my truck is running right. As I am driving it doesn't seem to idle right. At times the engine will seem like it revs a little then lets off, then back up and so on. Also I have noticed that when I give it a littler gas "not stomping on it" the RPMs will climb about 100 then stop going up then bump up 100 then stop again and so on until I step a little harder. I am also getting extremely bad gas mileage. Like 12 MPG highway. The reason why I am asking and not just taking it to the dealership and dropping it off is because my wife wrecked her car today. Ya I know, no luck.

Most dealerships will hook up the computer quickly and for free at the drop off bay or what ever setup they have.

I'm sure whatever this is, it will have a message associated to it.

That's what I would do, they always do that as soon as you get there with a possible computer problem they hook it up so they know where or what area to send it...if it's a big dealership.
