Didn't know where else to post this, thought this would be the fastest place for results. Recently couldn't start my 1979 dodge adventurer, battery was charged and lights were working but I wasn't getting even a turn over when I'd turn the key. Father in-law was hitting the starter with a hammer to see if that was it but when that wouldnt work he hit this little distributor. Not sure what it's called just has the parts number 2764. Can anyone give me a link to a new one or just tell me what it is so I don't walk in to Lordco looking like an idiot.
Looks like a starter solenoid to me. You should be able to jump the two heavy gauge wires together with another HEAVY GAUGE WIRE and it should crank. Thats if it is a starter solenoid.

With Mopars, the solenoid is on the starter, whereas the little piece on the fender/firewall (depending on model) is the relay, where you can jump the lugs (like if the wiring to your key switch gets messed up, you can still crank the car).
