Default Those that have added amps and radios..... Question for you..

I just recently installed my amps and nav unit, and have acquired a nice whine in my speakers. Very rarely that I have this issues, but the noise is coming from the Kenwood dnx5120. Did anyone else with a similar install have noise issues? Did you use the factory ground wire for the radio? Let me know, I'm out of town with the truck right now and have limited tools and such but the noise is ridiculous.. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

In my last truck, an 08 hemi 1500, i had this problem. It ended up being the stereo itself. Corrective action was a $14 digital filter. I had a highly reputable audio-guy in florida working on mine at the time, he singled out every component one-by-one and eventually, with the noise still there, we concluded it was the stereo.

tl;dr try a filter.

I've found a lot of times in the past that the ground is the cause. Rule has always seems to be ground it as soon as you can. In the case of my amps (under back seat) I drilled a hole and put a ground bolt right through the floor under the seat. Don't think it was much more than a 12-20" cable. Just make sure to scrape away some of the paint so you get a good ground point. For the radio itself I think I went right to the chassis frame behind the radio. No whine what so ever.

I know it's not the amp grounds.. The noise is definitely coming from the radio. I just tried installing a ground loop isolator inline, but the noise persists. Really frustrating, never had noise troubles in a new vehicle, specially this bad. I'm going to take out all the Monster Cable RCA'S and put in some cheapies. My last noise issue was caused from using metal ended RCA's so I'll eliminate those tomorrow.

it's very unlikely that the whine is coming from your stereo.

Heres a few things i've seen cause a whine
Did you run your RCA's next to your amp's power wire? Do not run them together
Do you have a solid ground on your amp? The shorter the better, and the gauge must be at least that of your power
Do you have your radio grounded by antenna wire? Make sure the ground is fully inserted
Are your RCA tips grounded? Sometimes the RCA tips will make contact with bare metal and ground themselves
Is your amp frame improperly grounded? You can ground your amp frame when screwing it down. This is why there's rubber bushings

Did you try kicking you girlfriend out the passenger door at highway speed?
I had a whine in my truck. It is gone now. As she was bouncing along I said...."See ya later Beeeeyotch"....

I had that kind of stuff years ago and it was the alternator. Replaced it with a larger one and I doubt that is the issue surely the alternator is big enough on these trucks?

Make sure you have your RCA plugs running down the opposite side of the truck than your power and remote turn on lead. If they are together, that usually produces the engine whine you are speaking of.

RAMULAK...that was funny!!!

Well, This is really annoying. Still have noise. I am pretty sure it's at least coming from the radio RCA cables, or the kenwood itself. I can take the cables off the radio with amps on and the noise goes away. No noise it I hook an iPod up to the amps either. I even tried a pair if ground loop noise filters, no change. As for being close to the power wires, I know that's not it. The power wire is run under the truck. I built this system to compete in SQ competition, used all name brand high end parts. The RCA cables are Monster MicroXLN's. Anyone use these? One my good friends owns a stereo shop, he suggests I can the Monster Cables. He has had issues in the past with them.
