need tire size help
ok i have a 2010 ram 1500 crew cab. i plan on lifting it with a 6" bds lift and i would really like to put 37"x12.50 toyos on it but i have been told by the place doing the lift that in the 2010 rams they changed the coil overs or something to do with them in such a way that a 35" tire is "the absolute max" tire size i can fit with a 6" lift only. now i am a total noob when it comes to alot of this stuff so rather than just take his word as god, i wanted to ask around a bit to find out if this is true.
my second question is would i even be able to do a 6" lift with 37's and still be legal. in my state (illinois), my front bumper can be no more than 27" and my rear can be no more than 29". but i am not sure where they measure from. do they measure from the center or the lowest point (the side edges of the bumper?
thank you everyone for taking the time to help a total noob out.

yes, u can fit 37s with a 6 in lift. you can fit 37s on the mopar 4 1/2 in. man am i glad i live in texas...we dont have rules like that :-) i have a 6 in pro-comp and 35s for now. once i get my truck out of the shop, i can measure it out for you. or im sure somoene on here will do theirs.
They measure from where your bumper would match up to the head of someone driving in one of the latest little cars they are calling crossovers? Crossover from where, always have to have those buzz words.(DO THEY HAVE A MINIMUM HEIGHT) How about small , midsize and large like before. Or Caliber is a hatchback not a crossover. All the car companies grab the word, it just costs everyone more money to put out a new buzzword, now insurance needs a new category. Who is gonna pay for that not the multibillion in profit making insurance companies. I think it would be cheaper to pay for an accident yourself. Because once you get you new rates and see the increase for 6 years you will pay for the accident twice sometime even 3 or 4 times over. It's just a mortgage company with massive rates. But our law makers on both sides of the border force us to have insurance. What they should do is force us to have a credit rating and if you do you will qualify to be self insured. I would take the chance. Especially in Canada, litigation lawyers will soon be a thing of the past in my opinion. They don't do anything really, I had a law suit that I can't talk about but I did all the research, scheduled testing, had to constantly rebook with lawyer because he had better fish to fry somewhere else so I get push back ...took 3 or 4 years to settle. The lawyers that get hired by big corporations is amazing. What I got did not even pay for the 2 days the lawyers from the US and Canada all representing different parties. You have to have mediation first, funny thing is they all can talk but I cannot? Only my lawyer can. This mediator looked like an old lawyer they dug up from a graveyard, he might be in guiness book for oldest lawyer. Then they all tell you how stupid you are when they are not even on topic or in context but I can't talk. Then we separate I say what I want they come back and say 1 dollar (might as well have been) It was such a BS scam . Those lawyers that were there I looked one up on the net. One of the highest profile Corporate protection lawyers. I bet for the 4 trips here he got paid 10 times what I got for my pain and suffering.
