Default MPG disappointed, any advice?

i have a 2010 ram sport quad cab, its has 3.55 gears and a banks exhaust...I recently put a 2.5" front and .75 rear leveling kit on it and a set of 35/12.50/20's on her. my interstate mpg went from 19 to 13!!!!! and in town is about 10! is it the 3.55 gear that is killing me? Do i need to tune it with shift point etc to help the mpg? I assumed the mpg would drop with a tune but maybe not? Or am i just SOL because im pushing a brick wall down the road now?

IMO, as you said your pushing a brick down the road. Larger tires and higher profile. I don't mess with tuners, I have not lifted my truck. It is strickly an opinion.

3.55s and 35" tires is a BAD mix. Going to 4.10 or 4.56 gearing will help with fuel economy IN TOWN, but hurt you a tad ON THE HIGHWAY. But the BIG advantage to re-gearing is for low end grunt with larger/heavier tires. The MPG gains will NOT be dramatic or be worth the cost of re-gearing if looking just at the fuel economy aspect.

If you are looking to get back to your 19 mpg the only way to do it is to drop the truck back down and put the stock tires back on it! You've created higher wind drag, more weight and greater rolling resistance.

I installed just a 2" lift on my Grand Cherokee daily driver about a year ago, went from 29.5" to 31.5" tires with a little more aggressive tread and lost 4 mpgs.

You put 35s on your truck, what did you expect???

yea i have 35's on my truck and 6 inch lift with 3.55 gears. the mpg sucks but its a liffted truck with mud terrains. i do have the superchips tuner and even on the mileage tune with settings changed for tire size i still average about 13mpg. so good luck getting any better than that

We have pretty much the same set up. I have the 3.92 gear and a superchip.

I average 13.5 with a 50/50 mix of city/hwy driving, 10-11 in just city and 17-18 on long hwy trips

The superchip didn't do much for MPG it did fix the speedo and gave the truck a little more get up an go.

Most of your MPG problem will come from your right foot. You don't have to drive like a granny but you also don't have to put you foot on the floor at every spot light.

I have no problem putting my foot down when I have to pass some one or just want to have fun but when I'm just cruising I don't care if someone gets to the light before me or accelerates away faster then me.

So if you want better MPG pay attention to how much you use you right foot when you don't have to like when your rolling up to stop light / signs, going down hills. you will be amazed on how well these truck roll when you left off the gas.

A friend of mine with a Ford 1/2 ton states that he lost 4mpg with an EMPTY roof rack on his truck. So, the extra 2.5" lift really WILL make a difference in fuel mileage.

I personally think that all threads that have to do with these trucks and fuel economy unless some miracle of technology comes to fruition, should all be banned and deleted, mpg together should not be allowed. LOL Really guys, a big huge heavy pickup 8 big cylinders, 16 spark plugs, Emission controls up the wazzu you are fighting a losing battle. I suggest get yerself one of those Smart cars and a trailer makes as much sense as asking for good mileage from this monster.
