Instrument Panel Glitching while driving?
hey guys just wondering if any of you have had this problem. My trucks in 09. So this problem only happen like 10 times total over the 2 years of ownership and is very intermittent happens once in a blue moon but yesterday it did it 3 times on my way back from a long road trip and all in a 1hr span. What happens is the instrument panel totally resets (totally dead). Then airbag, abs, esp, traction control lights stay on for a few minutes until they reboot. It scares the crap out of me but the truck stays on and nothing ever happens. I just hear the warning light and then all the instrument panel drops out then resets. Yesterday it did cruising down the mountains not pressing the gas just riding down the mountain at 70ish with mds engaged. I tried to get a picture on my phone but it booted up normally. then it did it again after 5 minutes or so. after about 45 minutes it did it again. Not sure what cause its but its happened before but only once never consecutively. all different driving situation nothing constant. I did have my diablo tune on but its done it both with or with out the tuner. Only other thing i can think of is the PAC stereo adapter (AOEM-CHR2) which works fine and i believe other guys have used but im not sure it affects the CAN BUS since its not spec'd out for out cars is for the older ram's. Any one have this problem or can point me in the right direction. The trucks got 24k and has otherwise been perfect. i like to get the electrical bugs out now while its under the bumper to bumper although i do have additional lifetime warranty.
Well first I just want to say that you shouldn't be trying to take a picture of your dash with your cellphone while you're going down a mountain at 70MPH...lol! Other than that, sounds like you have some serious electrical issues. I would have taken it to the dealership after the first time it happened. I doubt it's because of your tuner. I know there was a recent RRT for a PCM flash. I don't know if you've had that or not. That could help solve your issue. Of course the first thing the dealership is going to ask you is if you have done anything electrical to your truck. So if you can, I would say no. But I don't know what all you have done and what is visible. If they know you've done electrical work to your truck, I doubt they will cover it under warranty. That's just how it goes for that deal. Hopefully you get it figured out though. Doesn't sound like something I would want to be driving around with.
