Default Service visit can you tell me what was done

went to the dealer to have the problem with my instrument cluster glitching out see (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...e-driving.html). I ended up video taping it on my phone and showing it to the techs. They did the following-

25928 tipm update wt 0.30 wi/tech dtc U0141 lost communication with ipm"fcm/tipm, perform tsb#08-018-09 and updated tipm software road tested vehicle. l/o 18-89-01-92 t/a .2hrs.

The service department at this dealership sucks. When i picked up the truck close to closing one of the service managers attempted to tell me what they did and he just said tsb 08-018-09. I usually bring it to another dealership but that fact wasnt going to have the truck for the whole day may 2 made me go to one locally. If you can tell what was done that would be great.

What they did was loaded a software update into the tipm, just like it says. The tipm is the Totally Integrated Power Module - the big box with all the fuses. Apparently it was loosing communication with the other computers.

What led them to the decision to do that was the trouble code U0141

I wouldn't say that their service dept sucks, they told you what was done and provided you the detail on the invoide.

ilandaze - I think your question is what does the "perform tsb#08-018-09" mean, correct?

I think you as well as Old Jeep can read the rest knowing that a software update was done.

I don't have the answer but hopefully someone answers with more than stating the obvious!!!

i know they update the tipm but any ideas why. the only reason i didnt like this department because i had an appt and the sercvice guy wasnt there. then i called for an update twice before he could even tell me anything. lastly when i picked up the car they didnt tell what happened. i had to ask another service guy who just said they did that tsb without any details. the other dealership is way better. they will tell u right away whats going on and also tell u what they did when they picked up the car. all that aside i hope it fixed the problem. how do you post a video ill show u the problem.

The reason why is that there was a TSB on the problem. You will not receive any sort of in depth explaination on the reasons a TSB exists - obviously there is a bug in the software and they released a fix for it.

I think the greater point here is that it is not any more difficult for the person to say that " OH, well let's see, tsb # blah means this and this is how we fixed it." "Did you have any other questions that we could help you with since we know you have options and we really appreciate you bringing your business here for the best service in the area". Or something to that effect.

Problem is that in this country we are so used to being given service by too large a percentage of dumb, lazy, apathetic losers who are placed on the front lines of multi million dollar establishments.

I remember something like that; I think they used to call it "Customer Service."
