adjusting HID headlights
So I bought these HID headlights, got them installed privately and now having trouble getting them adjusted correctly. The problem is, the guy who installed them lives like 2 hours away from me so I have to keep going back and forth trying them out at night, going back for an adjustment, etc. etc.
Is there a secret to ensuring they are adjusted properly or is it all just trial and error?

I know with HIDS they are hard to adjust, especially if they are the same bulb doing both beams (like my 07) So are your headlights the quad light? That will make a big difference to what I am going to say here.
Also what color are your bulbs? I put 10K in my 07 and it was harder then ever to get them set up. Because they are soo crystal white everyone was thinking they were my highs. So I ended up getting a dual Bi-Xenon that adjusts the bulbs for me. What it did is move the bulb up and down in the socket. So if you have a bulb with a little blue in it people will know they are HIDs and you might be able to get away with having them a little higher...
Basically what I had to do was just aim the lows right down to the ground, so that no one was blinking at me. Basically I sat 10 Ft from the truck and aimed the lights pretty much right in my eyes. Then just adjust them up till someone flashed at me, which might I add was not that much.
I am going to try HIDS in my truck in the near future, but if you have the quad headlamp then I sure would think there is a way to adjust each bulb separately. Just adjust the low beam (bigger light of the two) further to the ground and the highs higher.
Basically yes, trial and error, if trucks are blinking at you, you have them too high. If low rider cars are blinking at you, well they are low riding have to suck it up!
lol on the low rider Nate and thanks. I was hoping there was some kinda gadget to help adjust lights 'cause it's a real pain when you have to take the grill off to even get to the headlights on this truck so trial and error is time consuming. When the lights were first installed they were aimed so high I thought they were defective, now I think they are too low because they hit the highway about 2 markers ahead of the front end of the truck. (I used the dotted centre line as my marker). I guess I just need to adjust them a bit higher and hope for the best.
Oh and yes, it is only the low beam....high beam is original and fine and they are blue halo. I will post a picture in my album, they are pretty sweet but it sure would be nice if they were functional too!
