Default 2010 ram crew with 3.55 gears

I have a 2010 Ram crew cab 4x4 with 5.7, and 20" factory rims. Can anyone tell me why the towing capacity is different between the 2010 through to 2012. I have read that there was no change to the truck but the towing capacity has gone up from 7350 lbs in 2010 to 8500 lbs in 2011/2012. I have inquired at several Dodge dealers and they have no idea, ( I find that a bit disturbing to say the least). Is it safe to conclude that my truck would be the same as 2011/2012?
Thank you for any information.

If you have read it has gone up I wouldn't be concluding the two years are the same.

Type of tire and wheels are the reason. The suspension is the same on all the 4th gen 1500 trucks until 2013.
Other than that, chrysler has a box of pixie dust to ward off the competition, little sprinkle, BAMMMM, ram is now bigger, more powerful.

Like LU said, I'd heard that the 4th Gen trucks were initially underrated on purpose. The competition gets better and the numbers go up. Nothing has changed on the powertrain or suspension of the trucks from 2009 to 2012, so the higher numbers are valid across the model years.

My buddy had the same tires and wheels on his 2012 as my 2010. Not sure about that.
