Default Brake pad changing tips?

Going to swap out my brake pads/rotors tomorrow. 50,000 miles. the brakes are definitely not as grippy as they were, so before it gets cold out...I figure I'll do the pads, and rotors. I had two warped rotors and just figured I would change them all. Just wondering if there was anything different in the 4th Gen to do.

There is controversy as to weather you should take new rotors and have them turned. Some say yes and some say not. May want to ask the manufacturer what they recommend.

I had them trued. Not really turned down but the knife did just touch the surface. One new one was just a bit untrue.

Nothing special about replacing the pads on the Rams. Pretty standard brake design

I hope they put a non directional grind on the faces, while they had them in the lathe!

That's what I did with my Ford Explorer rotors, indicated the hub on a three jaw fixture, and surface ground them non-concentric on rotary grinder. Worked great!

Anybody have pics on a brake pad change? What are the torque specs on the caliper mounting bolts? Also, are the two mounting bolts the only two bolts that you need to undo?

I'm assuming it's ok to change pads only. Truck has 36,000 miles on it.

No you need to take the 5 lug nuts off as well.
But yeah just to the two bolts and be careful of the hose. Those calipers are heavy. 6" C clamp and use the old pad to push in the piston REAL SLOW so as not to mess up the ABS shuttle valve. Took me an hour to do both sides. Minus the time it took me to beat the $hit out of one side just to get the tire un-siezed from the rotor hub. I put some anti-seize compond on the back of the wheels when I reinstalled the tires.
BTW I did mine at around 50,000 miles and still had a ton of pad left. But man they sure felt like they needed changing.

Well, I got the fronts done. Didn't have any problems. I'm still kinda new to working on cars, and I wasn't sure I put the left side back together correctly last night. Think it took me like two hours. Tonight only took about forty minutes, but that was mostly b/c of the cigar I was smoking.

There was plenty of pad left, but I wanted a little more stopping power. Replaced the stockers with Wagner severe duty pads. Gonna do the rears later this week, but I can already tell there's a little more bite.

Would still like to know those torque specs if anybody has them.
