Default What would you guys do

I currently have 2011 Ram sport Crew with Ram box pickup bed (25K miles). Its fully loaded including the Mopar challenger hood. I cant get the Powerwagon out of my head. I wouldnt need a 2500, but for some reason I am attracted to the truck. People tell me its a huge waste for me to own something like that because i will never use it for what its intended on. I looked at trading in my truck and the dealer said i will prob take a hit on my truck like always. I will be close to my pay off number though (about a thousand off). I will be payed off in about two years.

Powerwagon is a great truck and can achieve amazing things. The MPG suck and at highway speed the RPMs are not nearly as low as my truck. I would say the inside is not as nice either but that really does not matter to me.

Im stuck. any comments

If you want it and can afford it, go for it. Whether you need it or not, life is about working for things you want.

I bought a brand new Ram 1500 (3rd Gen), had owned diesel trucks before and wanted another diesel, but the crazy cost difference and my conservative nature ultimately led me to buy the truck that suited my needs over my wants.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck. It's never had an issue and I've modded the hell out of it (so much so that now I really can't justify getting rid of it for anything else). But at the time, I could have afforded the extra $17 they wanted for a new 2500 CTD over a new 1500. There were rebates and cash-offs that basically brought about $8,000 off the sticker a 1500 Hemi 4x4 that 2500s and/or diesels didn't have and I had a REALLY hard time justifying $17k more for a truck with a sticker price of only $9k more. Despite this, there have been many a time I've regretted not buying what I really wanted.

If your financial situation will allow you to splurge on a 2500 Hemi Power Wagon, why not??? If your finances will be in a bind over it, then would I second guess it...

Keep the 1500 ram, buy the time you rebuild the front end on a heavy duty ram, replace all the stock u joints and ball joints with better serviceable units, mortgage your life for flue costs, you will ask your self why did I go for a 2500 Ram.

Dodge solid axle front ends pretty much rip apart.

On the + side the new 2500 rams now have a bolt that holds the left drag link onto the hub, instead of a compression fit as per my 06 2500. Yay dodge!!!

I have the same drive to get into a CTD HD Ram, I do understand the power wagon attraction, but I can't justify treading in a new rebuilt truck( mine ) or a new perfectly good truck for one that will have to rebuilt five to six years down the road.

Its all abought the money and being happy, if you have the money you can do what ever you want, if you have only passion and want, you may end up with a dogs breakfist of issues.

I'd give my left nut for a '12 Power Wagon Laramie with all the options. If I was single, I'd have one in my garage (if it would fit).
