Default Need help with box dimensions

I am buying a 2012 2500 Crew Cab. I currently have a 2005 2500 Quad cab. I want to know if the dimensions of the box have changed from 2005 to 2012? If so, how have they changed? I have a canopy on my 05' and want to get it repainted so that I can put it on my 2012? Just need to know if it will fit properly on my new truck?
Thanks!

The 1500 has the short box 5'7, I think the 2500 chassis can support the 6'4 and the full 8 but I'm not sure. Their website should tell you.

My question is - will the canopy that I have on my 2005 2500 Ram Quad cab fit on my new 2012 2500 Ram Crew cab. They are both short beds. Just wondering if there was a significant change in the box dimensions and/or shape that would not allow me to put the canopy on the new truck when it arrives?
Thanks!

From cars.com....

"The 2005 Regular-cab Rams can be equipped with a 6.3-foot cargo bed, ride a 120.5-inch wheelbase and stretch to 207.7 inches long overall. When equipped with an 8-foot cargo bed, the Ram has a 140.5-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 229.7 inches. Quad Cab pickups can also be equipped with the two bed sizes and are 20 inches longer in both wheelbase and overall length.

The 2012 heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 are available in three cab styles: regular cab, crew cab and Mega Cab. Buyers can choose single or dual rear wheels and a 6-foot-4-inch or 8-foot cargo box"

Time to use a tape measure I guess, according to this your 05 is a 1" shorter box.

To be sure just go down to a dealership and measure both boxes, width and length, then compare to your 05. Plus, depending on the canopy's rear window gasket where it meets the tailgate you might have an issue since the top edge of the '12s tailgate is considerably wider then the 05.

Leftyodoul,

I know the newer models have the Ram Box feature, which may alter the dimensions of the box from the older models. However that is difficult to confirm without more of the vehicle's specs.

If you want to PM me the VIN #'s for your 2005 and the 2012, I can review this further for you. I was also wondering if the canopy you have is Mopar?

I look forward to hearing from you.
