Default RPM question

I test drove a 2011 Ram w/ the 5.7 and 20" rims before I bought my 2012 and have noticed a discrepancy in the RPM at speed.

In the 2011 I remember it being at 1000 rpm at 50MPH.

My Ram with 3.55 gears and 20" rims is turning 1500 RPM at 50, and 1650 at 65 mph. This is on flat ground.

I did notice when manually shifting, it seems to miss 3rd gear, as it isn't a positive shift, and the tach climbs to almost 3000 RPM before shifting into 4th.

Anyone else have this issue?

That seems just about right for a 3.55 rear.

It may go down a little as the engine, trans and rear break in.

The lower rpm you noticed on the test drive may have had a 3.21 rear.

2-3 shift only drops slightly maby like 200 rpm as it uses 2nd prime

Ah yes, the 2nd prime issue.

To the other poster, I didn't think about the 3:21 diff, thanks.
