Default When to use 4-Wheel-Auto?

Newbie here. My 2012 Sport has the 4-wheel-auto option. When would you engage this? During icy or heavy rain? And is it safe to use at highway speed?

I used to use it when intermittent ice or snow pack. If it is solid ice, I locked it in 4hi. The auto engages when it senses slip so it doesn't wear on components.

Yes you can use it on the highway. Its kind of like all wheel drive in that it kicks in only when wheel slip is detected.

4wheel auto can be used at any time, on any road surface, the auto feature takes away your abillity to decide when to shift into 4wd.

Now you have to drive like your in 2wd with bad tires on a sheet of ice, any form of 4wd or awd will cause potential to lose control so much faster if your not drving to changing road conditions..

4wd will not stop you quicker...
