Default 2009 Hemi 1500 - anybody changed a rear wheel bearing?

Or familiar with the process? About a week ago, I noticed that I was getting a strange noise from the back of my truck. At first I thought it was just tire noise, then maybe the noise when a tire goes bad...but the tires are fine and the noise is becoming more noticeable. Don't really notice it on the highway, but around town and as you increase speed to 60 mph or reduce speed coming to a stop there is a noticeable noise from the rear end. No differential leaks or anything, and from past experience it sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. Appreciate any thoughts or comments.

Sounds more like a pinion bearing than a rear wheel bearing. A rear wheel bearing isn't going to make more noise on deceleration since there is no change in the load.

I have no experience with pinion bearings going bad so I'm not familiar with the noise, etc. that you would expect. I've replaced wheel bearings on my BMW and Ford Explorer and the sound they made is similiar to what I'm hearing from the back end of my truck. You make a good point though about the noise getting more noticeable on deceleration. Easier to check the wheel bearings first I guess, and if they are OK then the pinion.
