2012 2500 st road noise
My 2012 ST picks up what seems to me to be a great amount of road noise. Are the Firestone Transforce ht tires the culprits or does the st cab just has no sound deadening? I have a 2007 slt which seems to be much quieter. Not too happy with this new 2012. 2007 half ton with 175,000 miles drives better than the new 2500 st.
You really can't compare the ride of a 1500 to a 2500 with a solid front axle, heavier springs, and E rated tires. There was a major difference when I stepped up to a 2500 from a 1500. Gas mileage also took a big hit. But it has a much better payload rating and towing is more stable, so it is a tradoff.
A ST is the cheapest stripped down model so I'd bet it has less insulation than an SLT to help with cutting the costs. I've got an Outdoorsman (similar to SLT) and it is every bit as quiet as my 1500 was even though the new truck has offroad tires. Did you not take the truck for a test ride before buying?
My buddy's F250 rides a lot worse and doesn't get as good of gas mileage. Another friend went from Chevy 2500 to a Ram 2500 and says that is is better in every way. But none of the 3 will ever compare to a 1500 as far as the ride goes. It's not even close.

Road noise is a subjective item, are you finding noise arround the windshiled area, or door seams?
Dodge still uses foam inserts in the front fenders and cab area, you can see thease when you open up a front drivers or passenger door, and thier may be rubbers on the bottom of the doors sealing against the cab.
Ride quality is greatly imporoved when you dump the oem tires, I do not care for Firestones, nor do I care for for BF goodridge R/T T/A, not that thier a option now on the 2013 2500 trucks.
E rated tires do not ride that rough, esp when you run Nitto tires!!
