Back to being a Ram owner and psyched!
Sold my 2009 Ram last Spring, regretted it ever since, so I picked up a '13 Laramie Longhorn 4x4 last night. Feels good to be back in the saddle again. I'm impressed with the quality of the interior materials and the new instrument cluster and navi, along with the 6 spd. I debated about waiting for the 8 spd but got such a great deal that I couldn't pass it up.
For the record, I had fallen deeply in lust for an F150 FX4 and spent a bunch of time test driving the V8 and Ecoboost, and getting prices from several dealers. Ford is much bigger here in North FL so there's a pretty good supply of new ones and the discounts/rebates seemed doggone generous (much harder to find the higher end Rams). I was 98% set on the Ford but decided to try to find a Ram and look at it before making the final decision. This is not meant as a knock on the F150 but I found that certain parts of it seemed cheaply constructed, primarily the interior. Lots of plastic on the doors and center console felt cheap. The alcantara seat inserts were nice but the rear seat was mostly vinyl. I realize that the Laramie Longhorn is a cut above the FX4, but I also compared the Ram to the King Ranch model and didn't find the KR to be a whole lot different from the FX4. I was able to leverage all the Ford discounts/rebates with the Ram dealer yesterday, capitalizing on the "last day of the month" push. I came away feeling that the Ram offered more for less money.
