2011 1500 4x4 Gear Swap
Alright,
I've been waiting and watching for a drop in 4.56 gear application for the Z/F axles, but it hasn't happened yet. I decided to shop around to see if there was anyone in the Austin/Houston/San Antonio area (TX) who had either had it done, or know of someone who has, so that I can get some information from them, or call the shop they took their truck to. I have been gathering that in order to change the gears to the 4.56s, the carrier has to be modified (drilled) to match the gears from the previous Dodge axle manufacturer. At least this is what every forum I've been to says. So my question is: Has anyone done the 4.56 gear swap to a 2011 4x4 1500? If so, can you maybe give me some direction? Do it? Don't do it and wait for the drop ins? Do you know of a shop that has done a number of them so that I can get them in touch with a shop that will do mine? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for he bump! I actually had the gears done at a shop in San Antonio called Charles Thrash Differential. They did amazing work and with a 4" Mopar lift and 35" BFGs being turned by the Hemi, I'm running 16 MPG city and 20 hwy. Not to mention the Bully Dog tuner that lets me melt some tread when I need to. It's absolutely a must do mod.
