Default 3rd gen/09 tailgate on a 4th gen?

Everywhere I look, the 09 tailgate is the same as the 3rd gen. A new 4th gen tailgate is $533, but a new 3rd gen/09 tailgate is $155. I wouldn't mind saving the $400 if it fits, and it seems to appear it would.

Would anyone know for sure? would it line up with the corners?

Remember that the 1500 and HD models changed generation different years. The 1500 went to Gen 4 in 2009. The 2500/3500 models were Gen 3 in 2009 and Gen 4 in 2010. What may be happening is that some of the places you are looking are listing part numbers for the Gen 3 HD models which would be the same as the 2009 HD.

I'm pretty sure that the tailgate shape changed between Gen 3 and 4, but I'm no expert. Make sure you have the years and models straight when researching it and you should be able to figure it out based on part numbers.

They are certainly different shapes, I just thought for a few moments that maybe it would fit anyway, and just look different, but I didn't realize the 09 2500s and 3500s were different. That makes more sense now.

that bites! Cheapest prices I can find are $533 for a new tailgate and $400 for a paint job. Rediculous on both accords! On ebay people are trying to sell them for $800! more rediculous! haha.

I can't seem to find any online parts companies that carry them. Can anyone recommend any stock parts retailers (or OE equivalent) that may carry them? LMC truck doesnt have them, nor most of the forum sponsors I've tried.

I've checked most of them, newer cars are pretty darn rare, but its probably reasonable to call a few more.
