2009 Dodge Ram Battery Replacement
My battery was starting to feel weak, so I go into Autozone to look for a replacement. Now I've had a few people warn me of my truck not starting after a battery swap. They talked about the kill switch being activated and so on. They said that I'd have to turn on the ignition but not start the truck and pump the gas and go through a few other processes. That's the method I use for clearing my messages. So I call 3 different dealers while I'm at Autozone. They all tell me that I shouldn't have any problems at all. One dealer tells me that if I'm worried about my truck not starting, losing data, radio stations, and so on that I could buy this memory plug. He said it plugs in to your lighter and then to your OBDII port and saves your data without any memory loss. He said my truck wouldn't even realize that the battery was changed, so I bought one. I plugged it in to my lighter, plugged into my port and removed the battery. I then replaced the battery and the truck fired up without any problems. Radio stations, nav, lights, wipers, were all good. So I unplug the memory saver and now my windows won't roll down, mirrors won't adjust, and door locks don't work, but when I plug the memory saver back in, everything works again. Does anybody know what I need to do so that I can have everything working without having to plug in the memory saver? Thanks in advance!

Replaced my battery last weekend. Had a weak start and then got stuck at a friends house. Battery was disconnected for about two hours while I bought a replacement. Factory battery, 4.5 yrs old. I figured it was time. Had it jumped and replaced the battery. The only thing I lost was bass and treble settings. Everything else was all good.
Changed mine with no issues a few months back. The '03 battery lasted me 7 years and 145K miles. The '09 only went 4 years and around 90K miles... Better than the '02 Maxima that lasted barely 3 years and 45K miles. When the dealer went to replace the Nissan battery he asked if I wanted a 5 year or 7 year battery I told him I did not care and that I just did not want a 3 year battery. He looked at me funny and said I have never heard of a 3 year battery. I pointed to the car and said well apparently there is one in that car. He did not find it funny at all.

Like jawsdc said... just unconnect your battery, wait a minute, hook it back up, everything should be ok.
er, when you remove the battery, your removing power to the 12 volt, using oem key is not going to trigger anti theft when you reconect the battery.
A three year or seven year battery is the identical built battery, your paying more for warrenty.
when battery is disconected wait three to five min and connect booth cables, than the coumputer relearns factery settings. ..
