Default Need help on schematics and ? on light relay

Hello everyone~! I have a 2010 Ram CC 4x4 sport. I have the buttons on the radio bezel for the heated/vented seats, heated steering wheel. I also purchased the Auxiliary button part.

Now here is what I am going to TRY to do. I want to get the schematics for the buttons for the auxiliary and the schematics for the row of buttons up top. The one with the parking assist, etc. There are two buttons on the outside not being used.

I am aware that there is a curcuit board and I cannot drill this but maybe, just maybe I can redo the curcuit board and add the aux. buttons to it.

If not, or if it is going to be way too much work then I am also looking to cutting a hole and adding this aux. bank just below the heated seat buttons. I have a donor radio bezel coming.

My next question is on LED's. I have them installed (56 of them) in the hood inserts and I tested them and they work great. My question is, when wiring them up to an aux. switch, would I need to add a relay switch into the wiring?

Can anyone help me out?

I don't know about the wiring schematics but as for the LEDs what wattage (amperage) are they and amperage is the switch rated for? I'd there is any doubt just run it through a relay it's cheep and easy to do and can save a lot of headache later on.

You dont need a relay with LED`s, they barely draw any current.
EDIT: Make sure you use a fuse in line of the circut though.

Maybe you can PM Pedrodog on this forum, he`s pretty damn good at finding wiring schematics for these trucks.

This is not entirely true.

LEDs do draw a lot less than conventional lights however just like anything if you have enough of them they add up. You say you have 56 LEDs we'll since I don't know the wattage I will just have to use an average. I'll be conservative and say there 3 watt.

56LEDs x 3 watts =168 watts
168watts / 12 volts = 14amps
Now remember this is not peek draw when they are turned on this is just constant draw. Depending on the type do switch you choose this may overload it and burn it out. Especially is you plan on connecting to any factory wiring.

Save yourself the trouble and spend the $5 on a relay.

Thanks everyone. I have the relay for the LED's and since I decided it was much easier to modify the radio bezel then to try and add the aux. buttons to existing button bar, I went ahead and modified the bezel.

I will add the wiring within the next couple of days or just wait till after the holidays.

Its more important to use the correct gauge wire to be able to carry the load in any lighting circut rather than worry about whether you have a relay or not. As for relays, we`ve survived many years long before relays were ever used within lighting in automobiles... some people today read to much into it. The only way he`ll run into trouble is if he dosen`t use heavy enough wire to carry the load. Think about what a relay does, then you`ll understand them better. Most relay coils are 3W. Adding a relay will actually draw more current... so consider those facts when adding relays to a circut.
