Default Rear brake problems

Hello,

I have a 2009 Ram 1500 Crew Cab, since I have owned the truck I have gotten the *ABS / Service 4WD / ESP-BAS* light 2-3 times per year. Each time I took the truck to the dealership for service and every time they have replaced or repaired the rear wheel speed sensor or the power wire for the sensor.

Last week while driving on the highway, I heard/felt a *clunk* in the right rear wheel (same place as past problems) then the lights came back on. When I got home, I removed the wheel, the caliper, then the rotor. I noticed that the parking brake (drum brake) was literally trashed - basically nothing was salvageable inside the brake.

----- Now to my question. Do I really need to fix the drum (e) brake? There is a sensor inside the brake, which is damaged, if I just replace that sensor, will that take care of the lights? I don't ever use the e-brake and I get the feeling that this is going to be a costly repair!

Thanks for the help
