Default OEM brake controller time delay or proportional ?

Hi I have a 2012 ram 1500 and I'm debating on whether I should install a factory brake controller or a prodigy p3 into my truck. From what I have read some say it can be done and some say it can't but now I'm curious if its a time delay unit or proportional. I will be towing around 8k so I would like proportional.

How much does the factory controller run?

I think they run around $200 but I can get one out of a junk yard for free. Just need to figure out how to wire it in because I only see one plug under my dash.

If you only have one grey plug, you will need to buy a pigtail and splice into some ignition wires to get the second grey plug that the factory control requires.

The OEM brake controller is a proportional type. I ordered mine through the dealer and had it installed for around $230 out the door. I did not have to buy the pigtail adapter as my truck had the correct setup and that price also included a re-flash so you can set it up for your specific needs. I believe they are electric light, electric heavy, electric over hydraulic light, electric over hydraulic heavy.

My truck only has the 1 gray plug and after searching for hours I could not find any good rock solid info on what to splice into so I just went aftermarket and bought a prodigy p3. I won't have the nice clean look but it seems to be the easier way to get a controller in my truck. Plus the reviews are great on the p3.
