I used fishing line to saw off the badges. Then I soaked the leftover adhesive with GooGone and let sit for a minute. After, I scraped with a fresh creditcard. Nope, didn't scuff or scratch the paint because I made sure there was plenty of lubrication using sticker remover spray. It was a brand new card. We all have a couple somewhere's. You can even buy one and put money on it just to use it for said purpose.
Rubbing and rubbing with a cloth can scuff the paint not t mention is smears the glue and mushy adhesive.

Fishing line and 3m adhesive remover, and a real flimsy plastic putty knife.

You can also use an eraser wheel to remove the most stubborn adhesives.

If anyone is de-badging, instead of tossing them in the trash, I would take them off your hands. I have a 2011 Ram Hemi Sport, and I would like to repaint the badges, but fear that taking them off, I would have a difficult time replacing in a timely manner, now that I have two children in diapers.

I did mine yesterday. I had purchased a 3m eraser wheel a while back for removing vent visors and used it on this as well. It is about $40 but well worth the piece of mind knowing it won't damage anything.

Step 1- use fishing line to remove the embles
Step 2- turtle wax adhesive remover and credit card to scrape off large chunks of adhesive
Step 3- 3m adhesive remover and a clean credit card to remove residue( it will take several passes to remove all the residue so be patient)
Step 4- spray the area once more liberally with 3m adhesive remover and wipe with a clean micro fiber cloth

the turtle wax adhesive remover helps keep the adhesive from breaking down and shredding until it is off the vehicle, and the 3m is better at getting rid of the residue. if u you use the 3m to remove the large chunks it has a tendency to shred them instead of coming off in large peices.

Or buy a truck that is already debadged? That's what I did. Just being a smart ***. I would have done the fishing line, then eraser wheel and wax to finish it off if I had to remove them.
