Default Trailer Brake

I just had my trailer brake module replaced on Friday as the original from factory was defective.
Started my truck today and got the trailer brake system is not working again.
Dealer going to look at it tomorrow to see what's the problem.
The strange thing is I haven't used the system yet.

I am sorry that the issue is not resolved. Please keep us posted on what the dealer determines.

Well, I'm proud new owner of a star case for Ram.
It seems that my trailer brake system problem has never been experienced before.

What's happening is when I start my truck I get a message in the EVIC that the trailer brake system need service.

The only problem is that I have yet to use my truck to tow anything, and this is were it get interesting. The codes it shows as being active should only register if I connected a trailer with brakes to my truck. That's what Ram said to my dealer when they called to get help solving the problem.

SO if you connect a trailer to the truck do the brakes work?

I don't know as I'm not giving my dealer a reason to say I cause the problem by hooking a trailer up. Though you did give me a good suggestion to ask my dealer to try hooking up a trailer and see what happens.

Well, I was informed today that the Ram wants the wiring of the system to be checked.
So this Friday will be the inspection day.

I don't get how the liability could fall on you if you were only using the trailer brake system as it was intended, or, just to see if it does anything.

It just I don't want to give them an out by saying it was operator error. I had a previous truck that had an issue, and they wanted me to pay to fix it. Luckily while the parts were on order Dodge issued a recall notice stating that the fix is warranty.

Well, here is the latest news.
On Thursday I hooked up to a standard wave runner trailer using the four prong plug to move it.
Well my EVIC display started to flash service trailer brake system, and dinging like a oven timer going off.
So today was my appt. at the dealer for them to check the electronic system.
The dealer found out that the Thursday service message was about my manual lever trailer system needing replaced, so now I have to get that fixed in order for them to check the electronic brake system.
So now I wait for the part to arrive.
