Auto Headlights problem
So, I got a 2012 Ram to match my 2010 Ram and they both have auto headlights. I got the 2012 used and the second day, the auto headlights didn't work when I left in the morning for work (5am). When I got home I figured i would test the sensor with the one from the 2010 as they are the same. However, when I went to test before removing it from the 2012, they were working again. I decided to test using a flashlight to get them to turn off. The headlights on the 2012 did not go off when I shined the light on the sun sensor, but they did on the 2010. When I disconnected the sensor on the dash of the 2012, the auto headlights still came on when I started the truck. The 2012 has the 430/430N nav unit and I'm starting to wonder if the automatic daytime/nightime display for the nav unit is messing with the auto headlights. Has anyone encountered this problem before?Any help is appreciated.
Update**
So I've determined that the sensor on the dash is bad. It operates when the sun is setting or rising, but when it's pitch black the lights won't turn on automatically. I figured this out when I was driving through shaded areas and the lights were turning on and off via the sensor. When I got home I switched the sensor out with my 2010 Ram and the suspect sensor took a long time to switch the lights on and off in the other truck. When I put the good sensor in the 2012, it worked flawlessly. I hope this helps someone else who is having a similar issue.
