Default Need Help HID Fogs

So I have a 14 dodge ram sport I bought 10k xenon hid fogs for my truck I also got a 55w ac slim ballast after buying I was informed that the light may run too hot and melt the housings can anyone shed some light?

55w is way overkill. Standard 35w is plenty bright. Yes, it could get hot enough to melt the housings.

The housings are plastic, i would agree that it's probably not a good idea. Even if the housing doesn't completely melt the chrome plating inside will likely blister off which i see on a lot of these trucks when people go overboard with bulbs.

55w is way too bright. It is guaranteed to melt the plastic housing.

I am running 35w w 6k bulbs
I have a set of 55w ballast i bought for the headlights. Reason for this is Lack of projectors, stock headlights produce low output even with hids. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I had a set of 35w 5K HID's in my fog lights on my 2012 before I sold it...never had a problem and they were definitely plenty bright. The hardest part of this is just trying to figure out where to mount the ballast, you don't have a lot of options around the fog lights.
