Just wondering if any of you know how easy/difficult it is to remove the center console and dash. Of course right after I bought the truck, an incredibly annoying rattle started on the left side of the radio dash and center console right where the two meet (silver plastic piece, right below the 4WD shifter ****).

Hopefully this picture helps explain where I'm talking about...




The rattle is coming from the left side where the center console meets with the dash, right where the shadow of the shifter is.

 

it might be ur a/c actuator

mine had a clicking sound n i replaced 2 actuators and fixed it

To Remove:


1. Remove the plastic chrome ring that surrounds the shifter and console bin by prying upwards.


2. Lift the rubber pad from the rear bin of the Console Cover and remove the two screws.


3. Grasping the Console Cover at the rear, lift upwards and set aside.


4. Using a small screw driver or trim stick applied to the bottom of the AC Power cover, pry outwards and set aside.


5. Remove the screw located behind the AC Power cover.


6. Lift the rubber pad from the tray located at the top of the Center Stack Bezel and remove the two screws.


7. Using your fingers, grasp both sides of the Center Stack Bezel at the top and pull abruptly. Grasp the bottom of the Center Stack Bezel and pull away.


8. Disconnect any electrical connectors and set aside.


Now, if you are sure that the "rattle" is coming from the area you describe, Center Stack Bezel removal is probably not necessary. You are likely having a rubbing (itching) noise caused by a contact problem because the Console is adjusted too tightly on the left side. You'll notice a small piece of Teflon tape applied to this area of the Center Stack Bezel where the Console Cover mates. If this is the case, loosen the console mounting screws and using spacers (washers work), space the console away from the instrument panel.

I appreciate the help Dusty! I think you nailed it right on the head. I haven't had the time to dig into it yet, but when the rattle is present, once I apply some pressure to the described area, the "rattle" does disappear. The instrument and console panels do seem closer to each other on the left side than on the right so I believe they are improperly rubbing against each when I go over road bumps, etc.

I do have one question so far though, could you point out where the AC Power Cover is?

The AC Power Cover is that little door that you lift to connect a cell phone or other AC device into that's located just below the right vent control thumb wheel on the center stack.
